On February 22, the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers ,in collaboration withISTIA - University of Angers, is co-organizing the first edition ofthe "InnovaTech Challenge – Elles bougent"inthe Pays de la Loire region.

This national intergenerational challenge, which aims to promote scientific and technical studies and careers among teenage girls, has been run since 2016 by the association"Elles bougent"(Women on the Move), in partnership with theDGE (Directorate-General for Enterprise). With the involvement ofthe Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers andISTIA - University of Angers, this challenge will also take place for the first time in the Pays de la Loire region.

5 HOURS TO IMAGINE THE INDUSTRY OF THE FUTURE

This intergenerational challenge will bring together five teams composed of two mentors, mainly female engineers working in industry, and two female students from Angers schools, Arts et Métiers,ISTIA - University of Angers, andESEO, and two high school students from several schools in Maine-et-Loire, including LycéeDavid d'Angers, LycéeChevrollier,LycéeSaint Aubin la Salle, and Lycéedu Plessis Mornayin Saumur.

Working in teams, they will devise an innovative product or service related to the Industry of the Future (smart and connected objects, augmented reality, big data, sustainable cities, the transport of tomorrow, the medicine of the future, smart food, and artificial intelligence) and will work together in "speed project" mode.

DEMYSTIFYING THE FIELD OF TECHNOLOGY AND INDUSTRY

This challenge has given rise to many special relationships between high school girls, female students in scientific fields, and mentors from the"Elles bougent" association, who are female engineers working in industry. The bonds formed enable young girls to learn more about and better understand the engineering profession, encouraging them to pursue careers in these sectors, which still sorely lack female talent.

Their projects will be presented in the form of a pitch to a jury composed of experts in technology and education. The best team will win a place in the national final and will represent the Pays de la Loire region on Friday, March 30, 2018, atthe Ministry of Economy and Finance in Paris, where each region will defend its project before an audience and a jury of experts.
