For the fourth consecutive year, the SCA Group, a global leader in hygiene products, is challenging students at prestigious universities to respond to industrial and business challenges in the consumer goods sector.

Two challenges—one for engineering students and one for business school students—were carried out in real-world conditions, with the awards ceremony for the 2017 edition held on May 30 in Paris. A total of 13 teams of two to three students participated.

"For these projects, we ask students to solve a real-world problem that we might encounter, such as a product launch or a range extension, for example," explains Corinne Ginguené, Head of School Partnerships at SCA.

Maurice Lubetzki and Martin Millischer, two first-year engineering students at the Châlons-en-Champagne campus, won second prize in the Industry category: "The challenge was to reinvent the packaging for Demakup wipes sold by SCA while complying with environmental, ergonomic, and economic standards. So we came up with the idea of creating drop-shaped packaging, which we called The Drop. The wipes are arranged around a rigid cylinder in which we placed a pipette of makeup remover with a pump dispenser that keeps the products moist until they are used up."

It was an enriching experience for Maurice and Martin, both professionally and personally: "As we are both attracted to entrepreneurship, this challenge was an opportunity for us to test our work ethic, our dynamism, and our ability to innovate. In addition, the exchanges we had with students from ESSEC's Consumer Goods Chair were very enriching due to the complementary nature of our profiles."

The winners of the challenge receive internships at SCA sites. Martin and Maurice both received "very interesting" offers for international positions.

A fruitful collaboration between SCA and Arts et Métiers share common values.
