37 students from 10 countries began the new school year on the Paris campus of th Arts et Métiers , as part of the international program “Diplôme National de Master of Science (DNM), with a specialization inMaterials MechanicsforEngineeringand StructuralIntegrity(MAGIS).”
On Monday, September 14, 2026, the Paris campus of the Arts et Métiers , welcomed the new class of the M2 MAGIS international program, which focuses on the study of materials mechanics and structural integrity.
This graduating class includes 37 students from Algeria, France, Kazakhstan, Italy, Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia, Turkey, Venezuela, and several other countries, reflecting the program’s international scope.
Alongside their English teacher, Arnaud Jerome, and French teacher, Julia Camarero, as well as Xavier Colin, the program director, the students are embarking on an intensive course that combines science, engineering, materials mechanics, and artificial intelligence.
A Specialization Track at the Heart of Materials Engineering
The MAGIS National Diploma in Materials Science and Engineering ( Master of Science ) is a second-year program in materials science and engineering ( Master of Science ) designed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the fundamental principles of materials science, materials engineering, and solid-state mechanics, as well as a deeper understanding of the relationships between forming processes, materials, their microstructure, and their mechanical properties for advanced industrial applications and innovative manufacturing technologies.
The first semester is devoted to a core curriculum covering the fundamentals of science, engineering, and materials mechanics, as well as the applications of artificial intelligence in these fields, under the coordination of Francisco Chinesta.
Three specialization tracks are then offered:
- Machining and Simulation, coordinated by Charly Euzenat – Cluny “ Arts et Métiers ” campus;
- Experimental and Numerical Approaches to Metal Forming, coordinated by Etienne Pessard – Angers “ Arts et Métiers ” Campus;
- Life Cycle of Polymer and Composite Materials, coordinated by Bruno Fayolle – Paris- Arts et Métiers campus.
Students will also take a common course unit focused on the impact of manufacturing processes on mechanical behavior and durability, coordinated by Franck Morel at the Angers “ Arts et Métiers ” campus.
From Education to Research
At the end of this first semester of intensive courses, students will spend the month of February working on a research project, before continuing their program with a 5- to 6-month research internship.
This work may be carried out in an academic laboratory or at an R&D center belonging to one of the program’s industrial partners.
Through this international program, the School of Materials and Structures Engineering ( Arts et Métiers ) offers students a curriculum that combines scientific expertise, technological specialization, research, and an international perspective, closely aligned with current challenges in materials and structural engineering.
