A student in the ECHD Specialized Master's program, Maëlys chose a work-study program to combine academic expertise with professional commitment. At REI Habitat, she contributes to sustainable construction projects by integrating environmental issues into technical and material choices.
Why did you choose the ECHD Specialized Master's® program?
This MS program allows me to gain a comprehensive overview of the construction industry, while developing an in-depth understanding of the concepts of urban planning and eco-neighborhoods, which I wanted to master.
Why work-study?
I had been in a work-study program for four years. It therefore seemed obvious to me to continue along this path in order to further develop my professional experience while maintaining financial independence.
What company do you work for?
I am completing my work-study program at REI Habitat, a Parisian real estate developer since 2009. Committed to an ecological approach, the company designs and develops residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects, combining renovation, elevation, and new construction, with a focus on environmental protection and harmonious urban integration.
REI Habitat specializes in wood construction and the use of bio-based materials, and takes a responsible and sustainable approach to construction.
What are your responsibilities?
I am part of the technical management team. My role is to support and guide projects to ensure they are in line with the company's environmental values and objectives.
This involves quantifying the carbon impact of projects and choosing suitable, bio-based materials, while ensuring that the economic and technical constraints specific to each project are taken into account.
