Background 

In ParolesArts et Métiers, we talk about industry, innovation, transitions, health, materials, new technologies, and many other topics related to engineering sciences and Arts et Métiers. Everyone in the Arts et Métiers community—students, staff, and alumni—is involved in the adventure. In each episode, designed and hosted by Carole Wahnoun, a research engineer on the Paris campus, with technical support from Jean-Marc Rousseau, Multimedia Designer and Producer at ICIFTech, one or more guests take the time to discuss an important topic related to Arts et Métiers.

This podcast will discuss the various student recruitment methods at Arts et Métiers, whether through the competitive entrance exams for Grande Ecole Engineering Programme through apprenticeship programs. Xavier Dufresne, Director of Admissions and Recruitment at the Deputy General Directorate for Education atArts et Métiers, will share his advice and experience on the subject.

Bibliography of Xavier Dufresne

Xavier Dufresne is an Arts et Métiers graduate (Class of ’89); he served as student representative at the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Bordeaux. He then enrolled at the École Normale Supérieure (ENS) Paris-Saclay (formerly the École Normale Supérieure de Cachan), where he earned his agrégation in mechanics before returning to Arts et Métiers earn a Master of Science Biological and Medical Engineering, with a concentration in Biomechanics.
Xavier Dufresne began his professional career as a lecturer in the Department of Mechanical and Production Engineering at the IUT of Saint-Quentin. He then joined ISAE in Toulouse, where he served for nearly fifteen years as Head of the Mechanical Engineering Training Unit and later as Deputy Director of Education.
In 2012, Xavier Dufresne joined Arts Métiers as Director of Undergraduate Education, a position he held for ten years, during which he spearheaded new educational programs, notably the Bachelor’s in Science and Engineering, launched in 2014, as well as new specialized engineering apprenticeship programs.
In 2022, he was appointed Director of Admissions and Recruitment within the Deputy General Management in charge ofArts et Métiers educational programs.
