Six students in Grande Ecole Engineering Programme Arts et Métiers campus won first prize in the robotics competition at the S.mart national conference with an autonomous robot designed as part of an ambitious educational and community project.

From May 13 to 15, 2025, the 19th national symposium of GIS S.mart was held in Vogüé, marking the 40th anniversary of AIP, AIP-PRIMECA, and now S.mart. This Scientific Interest Group brings together an academic community committed to scientific, technological, and societal transformation towards a sustainable industry of the future, driven by the values of collaboration, sharing, and diversity.

An award-winning autonomous robot

The student project competition honored six Arts et Métiers students Arts et Métiers designing an autonomous robot for the 2025 French Robotics Cup. This project, supported by the ARTeC Robotique association, drew on skills in mechanics, electronics, programming, and control systems. It received support from sponsors and the FSDIE. The presence of Nadège Troussier, Deputy Director General in charge of Training, at the award ceremony highlighted the commitment and creativity of the students.

A collective dynamic focused on the future

The ARTeC Robotics association, created in 2023, aims to participate in the French Robotics Cup every year. After an initial unsuccessful attempt, the current team has overcome this hurdle by solving major technical challenges: designing a mobile base, setting up a location system, and programming autonomous movement. This project is also part of the second-year program of the Grande École Program at the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Cluny, with the support of teachers Fabien Viprey, Charlie Euzenat, Frédéric Rossi, and Timothée Lopez.

RS France , and STÄUBLI supported them as sponsors.
