On Thursday, February 13, 2025, Lamartine High School in Mâcon hosted an event called "Elles bougent pour l'orientation" (Women on the Move for Career Guidance). This event, organized in collaboration with the Elles bougent association, aimed to promote careers in science and technology among young women.

One of the main objectives of the day was to inform high school girls about technical and engineering courses. The speakers presented the various paths to these exciting careers and the opportunities they offer.

Combating stereotypes and discovering engineering careers

Another major focus of the event was combating gender stereotypes associated with engineering studies. Participants shared their personal and professional experiences to demonstrate that these careers are entirely accessible to women.

The high school students had the opportunity to learn about engineering careers firsthand thanks to the speakers' testimonials. These discussions helped demystify these professions and inspire future careers.

Inspiring career paths and a diversity of profiles

Among the speakers, Laurène Ducottet and Maëlys Prost, second-year students at the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Cluny, enthusiastically shared their experiences. They were accompanied by Isabelle Duband, professor of materials science and gender diversity officer.

The event brought together six professionals and five engineering students, who spoke with around 100 high school students in their first year of general studies who had chosen science specializations. Here is the list of speakers:

  • Laurène DUCOTTET: Second-year student, Arts et Métiers Campus
