Since 2020, ArcelorMittal Maizieres Research has benefited from the full range of corporate services developed by Arts et Métiers. An exemplary partnership that continues to grow!

" This partnership is emblematic of what a school like ours, with its multi-territorial and multi-skilled approach, can bring to a partner such as ArcelorMittal Maizières Research. I would like to thank all of my colleagues who are involved in this collaboration. They are raising the profile of our institution in the region and far beyond!" enthuses Stéphane Fontaine, director of the Metz campus, who initiated this collaborative project.

Four Arts et Métiers sites Arts et Métiers

And indeed, the partnership with Arcelor Mittal covers the entire range of services offered by Arts et Métiers businesses: employee training, student internships, commercialization contracts, theses, employer branding initiatives, and more.
In addition to Metz, it covers the Paris (PIMM) and Angers (LAMPA) campuses, as well as the Image Institute in Chalon-sur-Saône (LISPEN).

Training courses for employees

" It all started in 2020 when ArcelorMittal Research contacted us to assist them with their digitalization process, " explains Mohamed Jebahi, scientific coordinator of the partnership for Arts et Métiers. "We then organized awareness sessions for nearly 200 ArcelorMittal employees. Then we set up workshops attended by the group's managers and led by Arts et Métiers experts Arts et Métiers Paco Chinesta, Jean-Yves Dantan, Amine Ammar, Sofiane Khelladi, Lazhar Homri, Jean-Remy Chardonnet, and others. These workshops provided an opportunity to analyze ArcelorMittal's issues and define the scientific program for the collaboration with concrete actions. "

Around fifteen internships and professional training contracts

In parallel with these training courses, ArcelorMittal Maizieres Research hosted third-year students specializing in Factory of the Future Management for internships on topics such as analyzing blast furnace parameters using machine learning and identifying the causes of deviations in the cooling section of annealing lines. " The deliverables perfectly met ArcelorMittal Maizieres Research's expectations, " says Mohamed Jebahi. " This convinced them to continue with more in-depth research. "
In total, ten professional training contracts and eight master's research internships have been completed or are currently underway as part of the partnership.

Contracts with AMValor and theses

" Arcelor also called on AMValor for Proofs of Concept, " adds Mohamed Jebahi. Five initiatives were launched in this context. In addition, since 2022, the group has been helping to fund three theses, which represents a significant investment. "At the same time, in order to optimize exchanges, an engineer who divides his time between the school and the group has been hired.
Finally, ArcelorMittal Maizieres Research participates in challenges aimed at students, which allows it to promote its employer brand.

Soon, a training institute

" Since 2020, this partnership has had a budget of €1.6 million, with some initiatives being co-financed by local authorities, the PIA3 program, and the institution as part of the Campus des Métiers et des Qualifications d'Excellence (CaMéX-IA)," explains Stéphane Fontaine.
And it doesn't stop there, as ArcelorMittal Maizieres Research is involved in a training institute project. " We are in the process of creating the Materials and Energy Institute with AMTALENTS, ArcelorMittal Maizieres Research, and Vinci Énergie, " emphasizes Stéphane Fontaine. The aim is to train senior technicians with a bachelor's degree program under an apprenticeship contract and engineers under a professional training contract. The educational program will be developed in collaboration with the companies. The first class is expected to start in 2025. Funding of €1.136 million over three years is provided by the companies and as part of a France 2030 call for projects. "
