The virtuous combination of Lean Manufacturing and technological innovation for reindustrialization: a look back at a successful conference held at the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Lille on Thursday, December 14, 2023!

On Thursday, December 14 , 2023, a conference was held on the theme of "Lean Manufacturing and Technological Innovation: A Winning Combination for Reindustrialization. " More than 70 participants, including companies, school staff, and students, attended the event.

A MEETING RICH IN EXCHANGESAND SHARING

The speakers shared their visions and strategies for maintaining or relocating activities subject to a competitive international environment. The presenters were:

  • Reynald Debaut-Henocque, former VP of Production - Toyota Motor Manufacturing France
  • Etienne Tricot, Technical Manager - Airfoils Advanced Solutions
  • Thomas Genester, Chief Executive Officer - Exotec
  • Loïc Mira, Production Engineer - Dassault Aviation
  • Thierry Feuillerat, Sales Manager - Tulip
  • Eric Huguerre, Partner - XL Group
  • Olivier René, founder of the consulting firm Kaizenco.

Following the presentations, a roundtable discussion allowed the speakers to answer questions from participants and expand on certain points, and the exchange then continued on the campus's educational and technical platform. 

Engineers from the LISPEN laboratory, Anthony Tourniaire and Adrien Florit, shared their work in collaborative robotics. Next, engineering students Jean Brachet and Fatima Ez Zahra Echahid, along with their supervisor Ana Sofia Gonçalves, presented their developments in MES solutions for production supervision and "pick to light" systems to the manufacturers in attendance.

We would like to thank all speakers and participants for the quality of the discussions. The Lille campus team is already working with the Arts et Métiers Chain and Operational Excellence Professional Group on continuing the theme of reindustrialization for 2024.

Not wanting to stop there after this successful event, the next meeting with the Lean France Institute on the Lille campus has already been announced for March 26, 2024! Anthony Quenehen, Professor and Researcher in Production Systems, who initiated this conference:"In organizing this conference, my goal was to bring togetherkey players in reindustrialization and our students to discuss a topic that they will encounter in their future careers as engineers. 

Following this conference, students were able to present their work to teams and industry representatives as part of the Evolutive Learning Factories project, and receive feedback. 

Alongside these presentations, students involved in AMJE (Junior Entreprise Arts et Métiers) also had the opportunity to showcase the range of skills they have acquired through their work with this association. This represents a valuable training and professional development opportunity for students.

The conference also provided an opportunity to continue building ties between the Lean France Institute professional group and the Lille campus, and to gain a better understanding of the competitiveness challenges faced by companies that have chosen to remain in the region. The next meeting with the Lean France Institute at Arts et Métiers already Arts et Métiers scheduled!
