Professor Féthi Ben Ouezdou is the new director of the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers . He took up his post on August 1.

Recognized experience in collaborative research

An Arts et Métiers engineer Arts et Métiers Angers 1983), holder of a doctorate and a habilitation to direct research (HDR) in the field of applied robotics, this university professor has more than 35 years of experience in higher education, dedicated to training, research, and promotion.

A university professor since 2005 and Vice-President of the University of Versailles Saint-Quentin for Research and Innovation Promotion until 2016, Scientific Director of the Institute for Energy Transition ITE VEDECOM and then Director of Training and Research at ENSTA, he has developed a recognized partnership-based research program with numerous industrial companies. His research topics have focused on electromobility, autonomous vehicles, mobility services, humanoid robotics, and biomimetic design. 

He has published around 150 articles in journals and conference proceedings, filed eight patents, and supervised 31 doctoral theses. He also helped launch two startups during his tenure as Vice President.

His ambitions for the campus 

During his speech at the start of the academic year, Professor Féthi Ben Ouezdou outlined a twofold ambition for the campus:
- to make it "a place of innovation and disruption serving companies of all sizes and in sectors such as mobility, energy, health, etc., in order to support them in their responsible development,"
- to make Arts et Métiers engineers the talents of tomorrow, spearheading the country's industrial renewal, with the goal of responsible reindustrialization!

He also reiterated the school's mission to train engineers capable of meeting the challenges of digitalization and decarbonization, with "skills that are useful for themselves and for society," complemented by a human and responsible education.
