Alexandre Isaac, a sophomore in the Grande Ecole Engineering Programme, founded The Repair Academy in September 2019. This company offers repair solutions for small electronic devices (e.g., smartphones) to combat electronic waste and planned obsolescence.

In France, 20 million smartphones are sold each year, then thrown away after a short period of use, even though a simple repair would extend their lifespan.

Alexandre, who has been repairing smartphones since he was 15, realized that some devices were beyond repair, so he developed methods for repairing damaged components.

The Repair Academy trains independent repairers throughout France to work on smartphone circuit boards. The company trains repairers and does not offer repairs itself. It is gradually expanding into several cities in France and aims to apply its knowledge to all existing electronic devices: computers, washing machines, printers, etc.
