With over 1,000 participants from the eight campus of the École Arts et Métiers, the " Grandes UAI " (Inter-Gadazari Athletic Union) is a major sporting event in the lives of engineering students.

From Thursday, May 30 to Sunday, June 2, 2019, students will compete in around 20 different sports, including soccer, rugby, volleyball, climbing, archery, tennis, and more. This 45th edition of the Grandes UAI will be organized this year by engineering students at the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Aix-en-Provence.

During these three days of competition, the student population on the Aix-en-Provence campus will increase by half. The 1,000 students will be housed on campus, and the sporting events will take place in city facilities such as the Carcassonne stadium, the Yves Blanc swimming pool, and the Val de l'Arc sports complex.Carcassonne Stadium, the Yves Blanc swimming pool, and the Val de l'Arc sports complex.

Sporting and community values

This event promotes the values of sports and competition, values shared by Arts et Métiers engineers. The Grandes UAI sporting events push students to excel in order to help their campus win, test their team spirit, and promote respect for their opponents. Encouraged and supported by the management of the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Aix-en-Provence and the Société des Ingénieurs Arts et Métiers, the tournament is a time when collective values are lived and shared.

A large-scale project

Locally, organizing the Grandes UAI required putting together a team of 14 engineering students and managing a budget of €150,000 . TheGrandes UAI demonstrates students' ability to manage large-scale projects in fields other than engineering.
