The Arts et Métiers Institute Arts et Métiers will participate in theScience Festival onOctober 13 and 14, 2018, in the science village, which will be set up this year at the Laval Virtual Center!
This festive event is an opportunity to convey to the general public an interest in science and technology, to raise awareness ofthe Institut Arts et Métiers Laval, and to showcase the expertise of the "Presence and Innovation" team at theLAMPA laboratory.
On the agenda: workshops on emerging and immersive technologies and 3D printing
Virtual reality game demonstrations will allow the public to discover the features of virtual reality tools and immerse themselves in futuristic worlds!
Your first experience will transport you back to the year 2048, where population growth, with more than 9.8 billion inhabitants, and the depletion of resources such as certain fossil fuels, will lead you to interact through two scenes. Immersing yourself in this futuristic environment will allow youto experiment and develop your creativity!
With the Nova project, you will take on the role of an archer in a futuristic world, combining physical activity and concentration. Once Upon a Train will transport you to a child's bedroom, and more specifically aboard a small train locomotive, with the goal of reaching the terminus as quickly as possible. But watch out for ambushes along the way!
A 3D printer will also be available to the public! It will allow visitors to master certain fundamental concepts before attempting to print 3D objects at home.This demonstration will help you understand the process, its potential, its limitations, and its value for prototyping.
The teaching and research staff atthe Institut Arts et Métiers Lavalwill offer fun activities, accessible to all, to share and discuss amazing virtual reality experiences!
