The Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Mobility Challenge is an event designed to raise awareness of alternative modes of transport to private cars. For the past 10 years, it has enabled businesses in the region to encourage their employees to use alternative modes of transport to get to work. On the day of the challenge, everyone is invited to leave their cars at home and walk, cycle, take public transport, carpool, ride a scooter, or use other means of transportation.
The Chambéry institute is participating for the fourth consecutive year.
The challenge is simple: employees and students are asked to try for one day (or longer if they wish) to travel using means of transport that have less impact on the environment than cars.
Upon arrival, each participant explains to a representative of the institute how their mode of transportation for that day differs from their usual mode of transportation. The greater the overall difference from their usual mode of transportation, the more points the institute scores!
Participants will be welcomed with refreshments and an opportunity to discuss mobility. This challenge is based on a voluntary approach, with no obligation to participate.
1,120 establishments in the region are registered for this 10th edition, which should represent507,733 kmin alternative mode, or 12.7 trips around the world, and 4,831 hoursof traffic jams avoided.
