Supported by Arts et Métiers, the two major projects CAIRE and JENII share the same ambition: to support the transformation of teaching practices in higher education in response to the major challenges posed by digital technology, AI, and immersive environments. While one is beginning its national rollout, the other is coming to an end... Let's take a look back at an academic year rich in advances and prospects!

The CAIRE project: towards responsible AI training

During a first year rich in collaborations and experimentation, the CAIRE project reached a key milestone with the launch of the first Level 1 tests for learners. The goal: to give everyone a better understanding of artificial intelligence, its uses, its limitations, and its impacts, through an 8-hour hybrid course combining theory, debate, and practice.

CAIRE offers progressive skill development across three levels:

  • Level 1: awareness (already being tested)
  • Level 2: mastering AI tools
  • Level 3: Responsible integration and change management

Level 1 of the training course, dedicated to raising awareness, has been tested, validated, and is now being rolled out on a large scale. At the same time, the project team has begun designing and producing Level 2, which is more in-depth and will enable participants to evaluate, interact with, and integrate AI into their professional activities in a practical way. These training courses are accompanied by assessment and certification mechanisms designed in conjunction with France Compétences, with progressive recognition according to level.

In addition, a collaborative serious game, developed specifically for this phase, will reinforce the educational foundation of the training program, with a first prototype expected in fall 2025. It offers a concrete scenario on the technological, ethical, economic, and environmental choices raised by the use of AI.

The MOOC "Generative AI and Me," launched in parallel on the FUN platform, coordinated by the CNAM and supported by CAIRE, has already attracted more than 34,000 registrants, demonstrating a real enthusiasm for accessible and up-to-date content on these complex subjects.

Already more than 1,800 people have been trained in 2024-2025 within the consortium's institutions:

  • 1,575 in initial training
  • 250 in continuing education

There are many steps ahead. The second half of 2025 will see the launch of Level 1, testing of Level 2 (including serious games), the design of Level 3, and the development of the trainer community. Consolidating the quality system, continuing work on certification, and strengthening communication efforts are also among the priorities.

In line with France 2030's ambitions, CAIRE is committed to long-term action. The project aims to train more than 49,000 learners by 2030, with a gradual increase in volumes and a constant focus on content quality, equitable access, and relevance to user needs.

The curtain falls on the JENII project... but its applications continue to spread!

On June 25 and 26, the closing conference for the JENII project (Digital, Immersive, and Interactive Teaching Twins) was held at the Maison de la Chimie in Paris, bringing together academic partners, industry representatives, researchers, and EdTech companies.

Launched in 2021 and bringing together Arts et Métiers, CESI, CNAM, and CEA, JENII has enabled:

  • The development of 15 educational digital twins
  • Their integration into teaching practices at CESI, CNAM, and Arts et Métiers
  • A full-scale experiment accompanied by evaluations, scientific publications ( 50+), and a handbook for teachers.

This project also provided an opportunity to structure a truly collaborative techno-pedagogical engineering approach and to bring together institutions in the EdTech sector, with more than €800,000 contracted with players such as Nimbus, Assystem, or via AMValor.

Even though the DemoES program's financial support ends in October 2025, the project will continue through European initiatives, particularly via the Virtual Skills Academy and within the institutions themselves, with projects in initial and continuing education!
