Open Access Week: strong involvement from Arts et Métiers libraries

Open Access Week 2019, from October 21 to 27, is an international event that allows the scientific community to learn more about the benefits of open access to research results, share knowledge and experiences with colleagues, and contribute to the promotion of open access.

In 2012, Arts et Métiers an "open archive" called SAM, where researchers from the institution can deposit their publications. These deposits are validated by librarians, who perform quality control checks, including metadata validation and compliance with publishing rights.

That is why, during Open Access Week, the Arts et Métiers libraries are mobilizing and organizing several events. On the program: coffee discussions, presentation/demonstration of the SAM open archive, films on open access, poster exhibition on the challenges of open access, explanations on the scientific publishing process, and more.

Furthermore, Arts et Métiers positioned Arts et Métiers in favor of open access by signing the 2017 Jussieu Appeal, drafted by a French collective representing researchers and scientific publishing professionals. It is aimed at scientific communities and research institutions with a view to promoting open access to scientific publications.

Libraries are available to their users throughout the year to assist with the promotion and availability of research work and, more generally, with open access.
