Arts et Métiers students on a humanitarian trip to Nepal

Student life

This summer, around twenty students from the Arts et Métiers campuses Arts et Métiers Lille and Metz are heading to Nepal on a humanitarian project. The goal? To improve access to water and educational conditions for the people of the village of Tokarpur.

A long-term project

Installing solar panels and a pipe to facilitate access to water, renovating a cistern, building a classroom, and creating instructions for using and repairing equipment are among the tasks that volunteers on this humanitarian mission will be able to accomplish. To do this, they will spend three to four weeks in Tokarpur, a village of 3,000 inhabitants, as they have been doing for the past six years.

This long-term project allows student volunteers to carry out real monitoring work in line with local needs.

A formative project

This humanitarian project is an opportunity to put into practice the values of solidarity that are so dear to Arts et Métiers students. But it also opens their eyes to the world. These two elements will be useful to them in the job market, demonstrating their ability to integrate into a company and invest themselves in it.

To structure their missions in Nepal, the students createdthe Gadz'humanitaire association in 2014. The latter acts as a link with the association "A New Future for Tokarpur."
