Since 2019, engineering students in Bordeaux, in partnership with the CFAI in Bruges, have been taking turns to keep the Kümetun association going.
In Patagonia, "Kümetun" means "to repair what you have broken." This is the philosophy behind the educational association created by Arts et Métiers students Arts et Métiers 2019 to raise awareness among the people of Bordeaux about respecting and protecting nature.
Their achievements include participating in events (the sustainable development festival in Audenge and the Léognan eco-day) and restoring a caravan, which they use to promote their work and organize DIY workshops.
Organize environmental awareness campaigns
Three students took up the torch at the start of the 2024 academic year: Alexandre Leblanc, Tristan Dionis du Séjour, and Romain Audebaud (see below).
Their goals for 2025: "To continue participating in events (the sustainable development festival in Audenge, the Léognan eco-day), maintain the caravan (seals, floor, and wallpaper), and raise awareness among students at a secondary school in Bordeaux (aged 7 to 15)," explains the trio. We want to maintain our communication tools (Instagram, LinkedIn, and website) and seek funding or assistance to organize other events. New this year is the organization of an ecological initiative for the orientation week for the new class of specialized engineers."
27 bags of trash collected during the Bordeaux Express
Last September, for example, the association organized and collected 27 bags of trash and some bulky items during the Bordeaux Express.
In October, Kümetun presented its DIY recipes for dishwashing liquid and toilet gel and raised awareness among young people about pollution with its magnet fishing game in Audenge.
