For the fourth consecutive year, the Arts et Métiers back-to-school conference will be dedicated to a sustainable development and social responsibility (SD&SR) theme, this year focusing on " Science and Distrust: The Role of Engineering ," on October 15, 2026, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. , on campus. Arts et Métiers from Paris , in amphitheater A, or remotely via Teams .
This edition explores the relationships between science, society, and engineering through the experiences of three members of the community. Arts et Métiers having participated in the Scientific Convention on Knowledge.
Lou Grimal, a contract lecturer-researcher in circular economy at the Chambéry Institute, Baptiste Sandoz, a lecturer – authorized to supervise research within the IBHGC, and Agathe Navailles, a doctoral student at the PIMM laboratory, will share their experience of this participatory approach and the reflections they draw from it on the place of engineering in a context of misinformation and distrust of science.
The round table will be moderated by Eléanore Fontaine, research director of Arts et Métiers .
Three perspectives from the community Arts et Métiers
Lou Grimal
A contract lecturer and researcher in responsible digital technology at the Chambéry Institute within the I2M laboratory since 2024, Lou Grimal is also a member, in her personal capacity, of the IESF (French Society of Engineers and Scientists). It is in this capacity that she joined the steering committee responsible for organizing the Scientific Convention on Knowledge.
Baptiste Sandoz
Senior lecturer – authorized to supervise research, Baptiste Sandoz has been working on injuries and cognitive biomechanics on campus since 2011 Arts et Métiers from Paris, within the IBHGC. In a personal capacity, he participated in the Scientific Convention on Knowledge.
Agathe Navailles
Agathe Navailles, a doctoral student researching the recycling of polymer blends from waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), has been conducting her research on campus since 2024. Arts et Métiers from Paris within the PIMM laboratory. She also participated in a personal capacity in the Scientific Convention on Knowledge.

This back-to-school conference will be an opportunity to bring together the perspectives of three members of the community. Arts et Métiers and to examine, based on their experience of the Scientific Convention on Knowledge, the role of engineering in addressing the challenges of trust, transmission and sharing of scientific knowledge.
