Student life

Cécile Brotons, a second-year student in Grande Ecole Engineering Programme at the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers , has been competing in powerlifting—also known as strength athletics—for several years.

A brilliant student with many talents

Cécile truly embodies sportsmanship and a taste for challenge. She is the communications officer for UAI Angers, has been a regional powerlifting referee affiliated with the French Strength Federation for a year, is the communications officer for the Parisian powerlifting club where she is a member, and is the basketball representative for the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers .
She is keen to pass on her motivation to other students on campus and encourage them to get more involved in sport.

The demanding field of powerlifting

Powerlifting is much more than just a hobby for Cécile; it is a daily commitment. This sport requires a healthy lifestyle, rigorous and planned training, and constant monitoring of progress, measured through performance statistics recorded at each session.
By setting tangible goals, Cécile has excelled in the various competitions she has participated in, such as departmental championships, French championships, and European university championships.

An impressive track record

Cécile was European University Champion in 2021 and French Champion in 2022, French Vice-Champion in 2019 and European University Vice-Champion in 2022 and 2024. She finished third in the French Championship rankings in 2021 and 2023.

Juggling academic and athletic responsibilities

Despite a busy schedule between classes on campus and her work-study program at MBDA, Cécile finds the time and energy to train four times a week.
For her, powerlifting is not just a physical challenge: "Powerlifting helps me unwind mentally and decompress. It's a sport that requires such a clear vision of your goals that it continually increases my motivation and ambition."
