The EDF Team returns to Liévin on Thursday, March 28, 2024: Focus on a sporting event that is as friendly as it is educational for students in the Grande Ecole Program at the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Lille, organized by EDF Hauts-de-France!
Inclusion, performance, diversity, responsibility: More than 150 students from the Hauts-de-France region gathered on Thursday, March 28, 2024, around these four key words for a sports challenge entitled "In the shoes of Paralympic athletes," organized by one of the sponsors of the Industrial Management Training Chair at the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Lille. EDF.
An XXL introduction to para triathlon
On Thursday, March 28, studentsArts et Métiers seven other institutions in the region were invited to spend an afternoon competing in teams of three relay runners in a para triathlon competition. They were equipped with accessories that put them in the shoes of para triathletes, simulating a disability for each of the three events on offer:
- 100 meters of swimming with legs tied together using a pull buoy
- 1 kilometer of hand cycling
- 400-meter blindfolded race
Team EDF athletes Théo Curin, Khalil Chabouni, Heidi Gaugain, Romain Canone, Gwladys Lemoussu, and Dorian Foulon were also present, along with influencers Amandine Petit, Xari, Domingo, Douze Février, Just Riadh, and Pierre Croce, who also challenged themselves in the same events.
The afternoon, punctuated by sporting events and opportunities to talk with Olympic athletes and influencers, left a lasting impression on the students, allowing them to discover a Paralympic sport.
This experience also allowed them, along with a few Arts et Métiers employees Arts et Métiers as supporters, to (re)discover the partnership with EDF Hauts-De-France from a different perspective and learn more about the company's commitments to disability.
We are delighted to repeat the experience in the para triathlon. The EDF Team athletes are here, the influencers are here, and most importantly, you are here! So congratulations and thank you to everyone!
The energy of the games comes from the athletes, but also from you, so enjoy this unique day.
Speech by Mathias Povse, Regional Director of EDF Hauts-de-France
An unforgettable experience
Beyond the sporting challenge, the atmosphere created by the announcers (Maxine Eouzan and Pauline Bouic), professional athletes, influencers, DJ, staff, and students, who all contributed with great enthusiasm, this afternoon of solidarity and team spirit will remain etched in our memories!
Disability awareness also means pushing oneself beyond one's limits, achieving goals, rigor, and discipline—values that can also be applied to everyday life and the working world for which our students are being prepared.
Thank you to everyone, and especially to our partner EDF Hauts-de-France, for this afternoon full of sharing and emotions!
