BELISAMA CHAIR

BELISAMA CHAIR

The BELISAMA Chair (Safran AE LIFSE Study Bench for Future Engines), "Mastering High-Speed Hydro-Mechanical Systems," is a structuring partnership for Arts et Métiers, signed with Safran Aircraft Engines and supported by AMValor and the LIFSE laboratory.

The result of a long-standing collaboration

This research chair, launched in April 2023 and scheduled to run for five years, will help lay the foundations for the aviation of the future. Its goal is to meet the challenge of completely decarbonizing aviation by 2050. To achieve this, Arts et Métiers from the support of aerospace leader Safran, with whom it has been collaborating on research projects for several years.

Together, the two groups will work on creating a new environmentally friendly aircraft engine, focusing this chair on several areas:

  • Significant advances in centrifugal pump design
  • Ensure their reliability
  • Developing carbon-free components and systems
  • Optimizing energy consumption

The expertise of the LIFSE laboratory

The BELISAMA chair will benefit from the human and material resources of the LIFSE laboratory (Fluid Engineering and Energy Systems) to carry out experiments and test benches. Specializing in hydrodynamics and aerodynamics, the laboratory conducts research in the fields of renewable energy, sustainable mobility, aeronautics, and space. LIFSE also has a 2,500 m² state-of-the-art technology platform that will be used by researchers and engineers for experimental purposes.
