The Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Paris is opening its doors for a
special Open House
on Saturday, January 27, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Arts et Métiers, a prestigious engineering and technology school that trains leaders in responsible industries,is holding an Open House on its Paris campus.

Are you a student, high school student, undergraduate, in a preparatory class for Grandes Écoles, or an employee looking to continue your education? Come meet us on the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers our Open House, which isaccessible and open to all, on Saturday, January 27, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The school will be presented in its entirety: students, staff, and teachers will be available to answer your questions.

Thevarious information sectionswill allow you to learn more about the engineering profession, student life on campus, the different ways to access training programs, professional integration, opportunities to study abroad, research activities in campus laboratories, and more.

This event will also bring together several campus research laboratories working on topics such as energy, health, processes and materials, product design, and innovation.

Workshops describing the topics explored will enable the public to learn about the latest advances in these different fields.

Laboratory Processes and Engineering in Mechanics and Materials (PIMM)

  • Title: Discovering theEvolutive Learning Factory manufacturing processes and methods for characterizing polymers and composites

Description: Presentation of Evolutive Learning Factory ELF) as an educational tool for training at the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Paris. The ELF offers project-based teaching focused on the final product. This analogy, which closely mirrors industrial production lines, will be presented using the manufacturing and characterization methods available at the PIMM laboratory (e.g., thermoplastic injection, composite consolidation, microscopic analysis, modeling, and more!).

  • Title: Buzz the Piezoelectric

Description: Introduce piezoelectricity and its applications (audio, structural health monitoring) to the general public. 

Speakers: Marc Rébillat, Frédéric Letellier, Eric Monteiro, Fakhreddine Ababsa, and Chady Ghnatios

Location: Hall 3 of the PIMM laboratory

Workshop duration: 20 minutes 

Hours: 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

  • Title: Fragile/ductile: how does it break?

Description: Presentation of experimental methods (tension/compression) and their use in characterizing materials.

Speakers: Jean-Baptiste Marijon and Nicolas Ranc

Location: Hall 4 of the PIMM laboratory (access via Hall 3)

Workshop duration: 20 minutes

  • Title: Plastic and food packaging

Description: Participants will discover or rediscover the main manufacturing processes for plastic parts, namely injection molding and extrusion. 

Speakers: Alain Guinault and Gianmarco Mallamaci

Workshop duration: 20 minutes

Product Design and Innovation Laboratory (LCPI)

  • Title: Digital chain / Immersion and interaction for innovation / The impacts of digital technology 

Speakers: Pierre Vedel, Vincent Meyrueis, Mathis Cuzin, and Khaled Benfriha

Description: This workshop will provide an understanding of the challenges of product development in an immersive/interactive digital environment. It will also explore the various product development methods and tools suited to this type of environment. 

Location: Hall 1, ground floor

Workshop duration: 20 minutes 

Hours: 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Laboratory of Fluid Engineering and Energy Systems (LIFSE)

  • Title: Thermal management of electric vehicles

Speaker: Amélie Danlos

Description: LIFSE develops research activities focused on future mobility. The laboratory works in particular on thermal management in the passenger compartment of small electric vehicles and studies battery cooling. The proposed workshop will present the research work of the project Ecolocar project funded by theADEME and the educational innovations developed in the JENII (Immersive and Interactive Digital Teaching Twins).

Location: LIFSE - Sheds 

Workshop duration: 20 minutes

Hours: 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

George Charpak Institute of Human Biomechanics (IBHGC)

  • Title: Ultrasound and elastography for biomechanics

Speakers: Pierre-Yves Rohan and Sébastien Laporte

Description: Ultrasound is a medical imaging technique that was developed for clinical use in the 1970s. Following the advent of Doppler imaging in the 1990s, the principles of elastography emerged to better characterize the mechanical properties of tissues and attempt to provide quantitative information to supplement the physician's qualitative palpation. During this workshop, you will learn about the use of ultrasound and elastography for research purposes at the IBHGC.

Location: IBHGC entrance (Hall 2, ground floor)

Workshop duration: 15 minutes

Hours: 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
