Thebike shelter has been passed down through the different courses, first started by students in the Grande École program and then with the participation of bachelor's students. It has now been taken up by Laure Daviray and Arsène Dauge, third-year apprentices on campus.

The bicycle shelter allows us to continue and support the campus's soft mobility approach, while also providing a secure place to store bicycles for staff and students.

The two apprentices therefore worked on the design and dimensions of this shelter. In particular, they carried out a resistance study in accordance with the NV65 standard (snow and wind).

The 1.7-ton welded structure (including wood) is located in front of the campus residence. It will soon be secured to the ground and will have three compartments:

  • Module 2 (the middle one) will be used for two oversized bikes (bikes with trailers, for example).

  • Modules 1 and 3 (the ones on the sides) will be for regular bikes and can hold 7 bikes each.

In total, the shelter will be able to accommodate 16 bicycles!

What remains to be done?
Wood (pine) will be placed around the shelter to protect the bikes. The roof will be made of sheet metal.

Laure and Arsène were unable to finish because they returned to their companies for their final year projects, but they have already made significant progress and prepared everything for learners who want to take it up.

They even came up with some ideas for future students:

  • Add a power supply with solar panels on the roof to power one or more lights, but also to recharge electric scooters or bikes.
  • Make wooden lockers to store helmets, for example.

A project to watch, then, and above all, a big congratulations to Laure and Arsène for completing this work in a record time of seven weeks!
