Five Arts et Métiers doctoral students Arts et Métiers their work at the HESAM University finals, which will take place on March 23 in the main lecture hall.

Conveying years of research to as wide an audience as possible in three minutes: that is the challenge set by the CNRS and France Universités (formerly CPU) with the Ma thèse en 180 secondes (My thesis in 180 seconds) competition. This spotlight on young researchers allows them to develop their communication skills and showcases the dynamism of French research.

Five Arts et Métiers doctoral students Arts et Métiers in the 2023 edition.

  • Charlotte Dubosc (LAMPA, Angers): Interdependence of visual and behavioral consistency for the acceptance of virtual characters in immersive virtual environments (Simon Richir)
    In virtual reality, especially in collaborative settings, the more realistic a character is, the more we appreciate it, up to a breaking point where the behavior is not credible enough in relation to the appearance.
    The objective of Charlotte's thesis is to test more or less realistic character appearances with varying degrees of animation and thus formulate recommendations for integrating characters that are fully accepted by users.
     
  • Capucine Fritsch (IBHGC, Paris): experimental approach for personalized optimization of manual wheelchair settings (Christophe Sauret)
    Capucine wants to develop a protocol to identify the best configuration for a manual wheelchair for a given athlete in order to maximize their performance according to their expectations and sport and minimize the risk of injury.
     
  • Santiago Montoya Zapata (LISPEN, Lille): optimizing the overall performance of intelligent systems in a multi-agent environment (Olivier Gibaru)
    This Cifre thesis, carried out in collaboration with Renault, aims to optimize the current logistics process in order to adapt it to the increasing customization of vehicles.
     
  • Koffi Koulekpa (LABOMAP, Cluny): Machining with supercriticalCO2 assistance: experimental studies and numerical simulations (Gérard Poulachon)
    Koffi is studying the conditions for maximum efficiency in the use of supercriticalCO2 in machining.
     
  • Yacine Sehimi (L2EP, Lille): Designing a vehicle-to-vehicle fast charging network and infrastructure based on a fleet of shared vehicles (Benoit Robyns)
    Yacine wants to recover unused energy from car-sharing vehicles and design a suitable power supply network.

These five candidates will present their work during the HESAM University group's "My Thesis in 180 Seconds" final, which will take place on Thursday, March 23, at the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Paris. They will meet five candidates from the Cnam.

Three prizes will be awarded:

  • 1st prize from the jury
  • 2nd prize from the jury
  • People's Choice Award

The candidates who win the jury's first prize and the audience prize will go on to the national semi-finals.
