Benjamin Saudreau, bachelor's student, class of 2016.

Having joined the first cohort of the bachelor's degree program, Benjamin is a jack-of-all-trades student who is thriving in this unique three-year program and is already thinking about starting his own business.

When Benjamin Saudreau enrolled at Arts et Métiers, he never imagined that his studies would take a turn toward entrepreneurship. In May 2016, however, he won first prize inthe Australian eChallenge, a competition organized by the University of Adelaide in Australia. "One of our teachers told us about this challenge, which encourages students to start their own businesses," explains the student. "I decided to participate with a fellow student with an app designed to make renting accommodation easier."

An entrepreneurial experience

Inspired by Benjamin Saudreau's own experience, "Visit my flat," now renamed "Buddy Gate," aims to facilitate remote visits to apartments and houses. "For the challenge, we had to refine our concept, develop a business plan, and prepare visual presentations. It's a great learning experience!" Thanks to this award, the project is now coming to fruition, with the support of three other students from different fields. "The school is allowing me to devote my six-month internship to creating the website. It's a real opportunity to reveal the potential of this application."

The challenge has allowed me to put my management and team leadership lessons into practice, and I am developing my IT skills.

For Benjamin Saudreau, "the experience has already been very positive. It allows me to put what I've learned in management and team management classes into practice, and I'm developing IT skills. Another added value of the challenge is networking. And, on a personal level, it's above all a challenge!" Once he graduates, he plans to continue with his engineering studies—while undoubtedly pursuing his entrepreneurial adventure.
