To mark the 26th edition of the Fête de la Science science festival, the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Châlons-en-Champagne is inviting ninth-grade students to come and discover a range of scientific and technological activities based on the theme "The sky is for those who think about it." The event will take place on Thursday, October 12, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

On the agenda for today:

How does a water rocket work? (animation/workshop)
Middle school students will learn about the physical principles involved, optimize launch parameters, and, of course, experiment!
Based on the simple principle of action-reaction, water rockets allow aeronautical principles to be applied to improve their flight. Ninth-grade students will learn about the different parts of the rocket and its launcher. A fun way to learn about flight parameters.

Drones, robots, and connected objects (animation)
Middle school students will have the opportunity to discover and interact with projects combining mechanics, electronics, and computer science, designed and created with great inventiveness by the school's students.

Inventors and Scientists of the Marne (exhibition)
The day will end with a look at portraits of people from the Champagne region who have contributed to the advancement of science through their work. From Nicolas Appert, inventor of appertization, to Étienne Oehmichen, pioneer of biomechanics and inventor of the helicopter, via Pierre Bayen, precursor of modern chemistry, and Henri Farman, who made the first "city-to-city" trip in the history of aviation. So many perspectives on the past that shed light on our present.
