On Friday, September 27, 2019, the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers , along with itsLAMPA laboratory team, will participate in the 15th edition ofEuropean Researchers' Nightand invites you to investigate!
This year, meet the researchersfrom the Angers campus in the various spaces offered by the European Researchers' Night.
At the researchers' corner (Forum du Quai, 6 p.m. to midnight)
Come to the booth "The Titanic disaster explained by materials science"
How do researchers conduct their investigations? How do they immerse themselves in their work? How do they distinguish fact from fiction? Join our researchers in their investigation to unravel the mysteries of the sinking of the Titanic and material wear and tear.
LAMPA researchers invite you to understand this disaster through the science of materials. You too can conduct your own research by performing tensile and resilience tests until the materials break. Conduct your investigations under a microscope and discover the invisible!
So open your eyes wide and join our faculty members in a friendly setting to discover together the causes that led to this historic disaster.
10 minutes to talk about it (11st floor, 8:40 p.m.)
Metals in extreme conditions
Charles Mareau, Senior Lecturer and Head of Materials at theLAMPA laboratory, will be waiting for you at 8:40 p.m. to talk about metals in extreme conditions.
Very fast and very hot! The behavior of metal alloys under "extreme" conditions is an important aspect of current metallurgical developments. It is therefore the subject of extensive research, particularly to identify the various physical phenomena involved. During this mini-conference, you will be able to discover, through videos and images, the experimental techniques and digital tools that enable researchers to better understand the behavior of materials in these very specific conditions.
"Speed Searching" (Quay Forum,9:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.)
Three doctoral students will participate in "Speed Searching," which aims to give visitors the opportunity to talk one-on-one with a researcher for 10 minutes! This is your chance to ask any questions you may have about research careers, thesis topics, training, etc.
