As part of the 29th edition of the Furies festival, the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Châlons-en-Champagne will welcome artists from the Groupe Merci on Thursday, June 7 and Friday, June 8, 2018.
Furies is a circus and street arts festival that takes place every year in Châlons-en-Champagne.
For seven days, more than 24 traveling companies will take over the city, filling the streets, squares, building lobbies, gardens, soccer fields... and even the historicArts et Métiers campus!
The Châlons campus will host the Merci Group for a performance based onÉric Arlix's text "Programme":
Between the game in which you are the hero and a scathing critique of this postmodern capitalist society, Éric Arlix's writing and narrative create anxiety and echo the concerns of artist Simon Starling. The artist relentlessly recounts the brutality of reality and, through a form of visual storytelling, denounces this brutality while at the same time offering a poetic escape. Éric Arlix's narrative works in exactly the same way. Written entirely in the second person singular, the lively, fast-paced prose takes us to hell, to a blind universe where individuals lose all sense of identity, where certain details reveal a touch of humor while keeping us in a state of great unease. The program cannot be changed, but the reader's mind is at work in the face of the ideology that shapes this text. Reader, you will be afraid after reading this. Because you will hear what kind of world you live in. (www.groupemerci.com, 2018)
