Arts et Métiers is an official partner of the Usine Extraordinaire event, which will be held at the Grand Palais from November 22 to 25.

"The factory that will change your mind about factories!" is the slogan of the four-day event held at the Grand Palais. The aim is to give you a behind-the-scenes look at today's factories: modern, inspiring, and connected production facilities. More than 50,000 of you are expected to take part in immersive experiences and talk to technicians, engineers, workshop managers, and students who will share their vision. But it will also be an opportunity for you to discover production lines, entirely recreated on site, to follow unique routes amid monumental machines, or even to participate in conferences (see box below).

And a spotlight on the school

This event is a must for Arts et Métiers, whose ambition is to be a "talent accelerator for the industry of the future." The institution thus occupies a prominent place as an official partner and will be present through various activities:

  • Our students will conduct guided tours for school groups.
  • You will be able to attend demonstrations focused on robotics or virtual reality, which will give you an insight into the work carried out by our laboratories.
  • The Grand Palais will host the exhibition "Technologie nom féminin" (Technology, feminine noun), created in 2017 on the initiativeArts et Métiers. The exhibition highlights the careers of 18 young female engineers through portraits in photos and words (more information).
  • Finally, speakers from Arts et Métiers, including Laurent Champaney (CEO), will lead conferences.

So many opportunities to learn more about the school and what makes it special!

4 worlds to delight young and old alike!

Teachers, middle school, and high school students are among the priority audiences for the Usine Extraordinaire. Educational tours will be led byArts et Métiers students, who will guide students through the 13,000 m² of the Usine Extraordinaire.
The tours will focus on themes such as nature/industry, humans/robots, and four major worlds:

  • Inventing: how does the factory respond to humanity's major challenges by inventing large-scale solutions? A "Gallery of Technological Evolution" will invite young and old alike on a journey through time, before marveling at how current manufacturing processes are helping to address global issues.
  • Manufacturing: the nave of the Grand Palais will host a real living factory in action, with machines and production lines churning out factory parts live! The "Manufacturing" universe will also feature FabLabs and virtual reality experiences at the heart of production units.
  • Connect: how can we connect talent, jobs, and training? How can we connect expertise and find synergies between different sectors? How can we connect regions and produce locally while opening up to the world? These questions will be addressed in the "Connect" section, which will also host a job and training forum.
  • Share: French excellence is recognized worldwide. L'Usine Extraordinaire aims to showcase it through conferences, meetings, testimonials, and more. An "Extraordinary Gallery" will complete this stage of the journey.
