The SYSPEC® Specialized Master's degree, offered on the Lille campus for 18 years, is getting a makeover! Under the impetus of its change in management, the program has been thoroughly redesigned to better meet the current needs of the industry, strengthen its national and international influence, and regain its position as a benchmark in continuing education. This new dynamic marks a decisive step for this degree, which is now offered exclusively by Arts et Métiers, following the end of its co-accreditation with JUNIA, which did not wish to continue the partnership.
The SYSPEC® Specialized Master's Degree: New edition!
A new dual leadership team, offering dual expertise
One of the major changes to this Master's program is its new co-direction, now led by François Gruson (L2EP laboratory) and Marcello Meldi (LMFL laboratory), two managers from different laboratories with complementary skills. This strategic choice makes it possible to offer training at the crossroads of two major areas of energy expertise, thereby better preparing future energy managers to lead projects with high technological and strategic added value.
"Energy is an important topic of research for all of us," say Marcello and François. " This new responsibility will enable us to pass on our skills and train engineers in cutting-edge technology, so that they can contribute effectively to the development of the industry in France and internationally."
They continue: "Our industry partners have a real need to train managers in new energy management. This Specialized Master's program will enable us to respond concretely to the needs expressed, but also to strengthen communication with these partners, who will contribute to the modules and welcome our students into their organizations!"
An educational offering redesigned around key industry skills
One of the main focuses of this overhaul is the adaptation of educational content to rapid developments in the energy sector. Gone is the purely disciplinary approach: the program is now organized around the skills to be acquired, with clearly defined learning objectives, aligned assessment methods, and better-balanced training blocks.
Among the major new features of the program:
- A joint educational sequence with the new nuclear expertise
- An educational sequence dedicated to hydrogen, completely new in previous editions
- Greater consideration for new energies and transformations in the energy sector
The three modules of the educational model have been rebalanced and are still supplemented by a mini-project and a six-month internship in a company, in direct collaboration with the Master's program partners.
CGE accreditation and enhanced visibility
The need to renew CGE (Conférence des Grandes Ecoles) accreditation made this overhaul possible and represents a guarantee of quality and recognition in the continuing education market.
The Specialized Master's program directors would like to thank the AM Talents teams, particularly Maxime Ricbourg and Hafida Souidi, who actively contributed to the development of the new syllabus and the preparation of the accreditation application.
Thanks to this momentum, the MS SYSPEC® now attracts students from far beyond the region: industrial partnerships are multiplying on a national scale, with 45% of the teaching modules delivered by professionals from the industry, ensuring constant immersion in the reality of the field.
A renewed appeal, both in France and internationally
This new edition of the SYSPEC® Specialized Master's program is already looking promising, with around 20 eligible candidates for the coming academic year, including a dozen who have already enrolled to date. A significant increase, highlighting the successful promotional efforts, particularly through Open Days (both in person and online), has enabled us to reach a wider audience, from France to sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America. Three continents will therefore be represented among the students who will be welcomed at the start of the academic year, including two PhDs, proof of the level of excellence and academic and industrial interest generated by the new program!
A Master's degree focused on the future
In line with the major energy challenges facing the industry, the reissue of the MS SYSPEC® program allows it to reposition itself as a cutting-edge and benchmark program in the field of continuing education, training highly qualified engineers capable of responding to the technological, environmental, and economic challenges of the sector.
With a 100% employability rate upon graduation, the MS SYSPEC® program is more than ever affirming its strategic mission: to actively contribute to the energy transition and to strengthening French and international expertise in the field.
