The "Out of the Box" days give Bachelor's students a better understanding of how the industry works. Illustration in Bordeaux.

"Out of the box" is an American term that means "thinking differently, unconventionally, or from a new perspective." The goal of these visits is to step outside the academic setting in order to get closer to the working world and its challenges.

A variety of tours based in the Aquitaine region

These visits, based in the Aquitaine region, also give students an insight into the range of career opportunities available to them in industry and the diversity of technological resources developed within these companies.

On March 7, students visited the Abatilles water bottling plant. This tour of a small company (50 employees) covering everything from drilling to palletizing bottles was very enriching for the students, who were able to observe the entire production chain for a product they regularly consume.

In the afternoon, the visit took place in Cestas, at the Tri de la Poste center. This warehouse employs 500 people and houses around 20 machines in a 30,000 m² space. The tour of the warehouse was led by a student from the specialized engineering program at Arts et Métiers Bordeaux-Talence, who is currently working as an operational excellence assistant at La Poste in France, and by the national operational excellence manager.

This visit, which focused more on management, allowed students to observe the importance of managerial skills in large companies such as La Poste.

Each year, at least four Out of the Box days are organized for Bachelor's students. These days give their studies a more concrete focus and can sometimes inspire students in their search for internships.
