Waste reduction on the Bordeaux campus

From January to June 2019, the Bordeaux-Talence campus took part in the Défi Zéro Déchet des Pros (Zero Waste Challenge for Professionals) competition organized by the Ekolo[geek] association.

The aim of this competition was to bring together different types of public and private organizations from the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region to compete in reducing operational waste. This waste corresponds to that generated by staff members during their professional activities: paper, cardboard packaging, food waste, etc.

The closing ceremony for the competition took place on June 26, providing an opportunity to meet elected officials from Bordeaux Métropole and the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region at a round table discussion where each participant was able to share their experiences of the actions carried out within their organization.
At the end of these six months, thanks to the support of the Ekolo[geek] association, the Bordeaux-Talence campus was able to reduce its operational waste by 15% and implement five actions to limit its production. Building on this success, the campus wishes to continue these actions and adopt a more comprehensive approach to reducing its environmental footprint by extending its scope (water and electricity consumption, etc.).
