Amen Allah Chebbi, a third-year doctoral student at the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Châlons-en-Champagne within the MSMP laboratory, takes stock of his training.
> What path did you take before your doctorate?
I hold a bachelor's degree inphysics and chemistry and amaster's degree in modeling and simulation in mechanics. I completed my master's degree with an end-of-study internship atthe Center for Materials Forming ( more information), in partnership withAltair Engineering. The theme was"characterization and numerical modelingofthe mechanicalbehaviorofpneumaticrubberfor the optimization of car crash simulations."
Theskills I acquired during mymaster's degree enabled me to do a PhD at the MSMP laboratory. My thesis is entitled "Multi-scale digital modeling and simulation of the machinability of agro-composites."
This thesis is part of an economic and ecological approach,as the aim is to reduce the numberof experimental tests. Its objective is to develop a digital tool for predicting the machinability of agro-composites, taking into account the effect ofclimaticfactors(hygrometry and temperature).
> Why did you decide to pursue a PhD?
Forseveralreasons: to improve my skills, specialize in composite materials, develop mysoft skills(basic skills), and acquire scientific rigor.
I chose Arts et Métiers it is one of the best engineering schools in France. Doing a thesis at this institutionisauniqueopportunity.
> What did you get out of it?
In addition to technical skills, the thesis allowed me to develop my analytical skills, andimprove my writing skills and my English as well as to clearly discuss my research workand
Respecter deadlines is the major major difficultyI encountered when three three years. Anticipation and organization have been my allies...
> What are you planning to do next?
I want to work as a composite engineer in the automotive sector.
