Environmental criteria are essential for the Arts et Métiers incubator Arts et Métiers Paris Arts et Métiers . One example is one of its startups, Vestaclim.
" We chose to welcome Vestaclim because sustainable development is an essential criterion for the incubator," explains Marie Brandewinder, director of the Arts et Métiers incubator Arts et Métiers Paris Arts et Métiers . " We select projects not only on the basis of technical innovation but also on their environmental value. "
The incubator therefore pays close attention to environmental impact (energy consumption, CO₂ emissions, use of polluting materials, etc.) and resource efficiency, focusing on optimizing raw materials, recycling, and the circular economy. " ADEME is also a member of the incubation committee to help us assess the environmental impact of candidate projects," explains Marie Brandewinder.
More responsible thermal comfort solutions
Vestaclim, which has been housed in the incubator since summer 2024, ticks most of the boxes! This startup offers more responsible thermal comfort solutions, combining cooling or thermal regulation with a reduced environmental impact.
One of its flagship projects involves transforming chimneys in older homes into eco-friendly, smart cooling systems. The technology is based on the principle of adiabatic cooling, promising cool, purified air without releasing hot air outside, which is a particularly attractive feature in dense urban environments.
Numerous awards
An innovation that has already earned him numerous accolades: selection by the City of Paris to participate in Paris de l'Innovation in November 2024; winner of the Construire au Futur, Habiter le Futur call for projects organized by the Île-de-France region in April 2025; winner of the Cleantech Open France 2025 competition in the Better Housing category in July 2025; selected as a Pépite (gem) at the SIBCA (Low-Carbon Real Estate Exhibition at the Grand Palais) in September 2025; winner of the BPI's French Tech Emergence Grant, which finances the development of deep-tech startups in October 2025; winner of the Innovation Resilience Call for Projects – for rooftop housing in Paris organized by the City of Paris in November 2025; winner of the Innovation Awards competition organized by La Banque Postale Asset Management in November 2025...
Promoting sustainable innovation in the broadest sense
" Vestaclim offers concrete hardware technology," continues Marie Brandewinder, " which fits with the incubator's target of 'industrial projects/sustainable hardware.' What's more, its focus on environmental friendliness, energy savings, and comfort in older homes is in line with the energy transition, another of the incubator's clearly stated priorities."
In addition to Vestaclim, the incubator hosts around twenty startups that share the same philosophy: Flexus, an innovative platform that allows individuals, SMEs, and service companies to participate in balancing the electricity grid by reducing their consumption during peak demand periods; Atelier Anova, which aims to repurpose production waste...
"Ultimately, the goal is not only to support 'green' startups," concludes Marie Brandewinder, " but to promote sustainable innovation in the broadest sense, integrating both economic performance and environmental responsibility. "
