Regional final of the Engineering Science Olympiad of the Aix-Marseille Academy

OSI 2023
Innovation

On May 11, the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers will host the academic final of the Engineering Science Olympiad organized by theUPSTI (Union of Industrial Science and Technology Teachers).

More than 100 high school students from the Aix-Marseille academy, divided into 30 teams, will present their prototypes for innovative and functional inventions.

An unmissable annual event for young scientists, this national competition is open to high school students in their junior and senior years.

This national academic competition was created in 2009 on the initiative of the UPSTI. It aims to develop an interest in engineering sciences among high school students specializing in Engineering Sciences or STI2D (Science and Technology of Industry and Sustainable Development).

The work is carried out in teams. Each team consists of four high school students, supervised by two teachers.

The educational objectives are to appreciate and reward innovative and experimental multi-technology projects in the field of engineering sciences and to develop students' spirit of initiative, taste for research, and engineering skills.

Each team will present its project and explain its design and implementation approach to the judging panels. The panels will evaluatethe originality and degree of innovation of the project, the technological challenge, the solution's capacity, and the relevance of each team's experience.

This year, the proposed themes are "ENGINEERING IN THE SERVICE OF MOBILITY" for seniors and "ENGINEERING IN THE SERVICE OF SPORT" for juniors.

Having fun with technology

To participate in the Science Olympiads, you need to enjoy playing with technology: coming up with an idea and spending hours developing it to find the right technical solution. All technologies are welcome: virtual and augmented reality, robotics, electronics, mechanics, etc., as long as the projects presented are functional and meet everyday or professional needs.

Promoting innovation and the development of new technologies

Arts et Métiers pragmatic engineers, combining technological knowledge, a sense of innovation, and team spirit. These are the qualities found in the high school students participating in the Engineering Science Olympiads, whichArts et Métiers support by hosting this event.

An academic awards ceremony before the national grand finale

The prizes for the six winning teams will be awarded by the campus and the Arts et Métiers Engineers Society.
The top two winning teams will participate inthe national final on June 1 ,at the GIANT MINATEC innovation campus in Grenoble(oral test consisting of presenting the experimental project, followed by the awards ceremony).

Two additional prizes will be awarded to 11th grade classes: the "Event Partner Company Prize."
The jury, composed of engineering students from the campus, will award the "Team Spirit Prize."
The "Cool Prize" will be awarded by 10th grade students from Vauvenargues High School.

RTM and ORTEC will invite all 21st-century high school seniors from the winning teams to a VIP tour.
