Challenge met to find the best wall element

Wall challenge
News

On May 29, the campus hosted the first edition of the PAROIS Challenge, led by Jean-Philippe Costes. Sixty university and high school students competed with one goal in mind: to design and build a wall element for housing that offers good thermal performance, durability, and low environmental impact.

Ten teams experimented, designed, and built a wall during this academic year and came to the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Cluny with their supervisors to present and defend their work in front of building professionals: architects, design offices, companies, etc.

This cross-disciplinary project in building techniques is unique in that it brings together audiences from different educational backgrounds:

The partner for this day is the Plateforme d’Equilibre Territorial et Rural du Pays Sud-Bourgogne and its program "Renovating in Burgundy."

The organization is supported by the campus and the Civil Engineering, Construction, and Sustainable Housing IUTs in Auxerre and Belfort.

The Challenge will be held again next year and will be hosted by the Auxerre University Institute of Technology.

This year's winners are:

  • Thermal Performance Award: Dijon/Auxerre University Institute of Technology
  • Sustainability Award: Belfort Montbéliard University Institute of Technology, Civil Engineering Department;
  • Environmental Impact Award: Belfort Montbéliard Civil Engineering University Institute
  • Innovation Award: MFR BTS Wood Construction Systems for Housing in Cormaranche-en-Bugey

Favorite Award: BTS Wood Construction Systems for Housing in Saint-Chamond

BTS students and several schools in the region will gather at the arts et Métiers campus arts et Métiers Cluny for the PAROIS Challenge on May 29, 2019.
