Laurent Lecesve is an Arts et Métiers engineer specializing in renewable energies. For the past 10 years, he has been sharing his international experience with students in the SYSPEC Specialized Master's program.

Laurent Lecesve is an explorer of renewable energies. After graduating with anengineering degree Arts et Métiers, he moved to Germany to specialize in hybrid systems. After completing his specialized master's degree, he continued his studies with a doctorate on rural electrification in developing areas. This took him to the four corners of the world for his research. "I was lucky enough to explore several countries to discover their relationship with energy and the local solutions that residents have found. For example, I went to India, Peru, and several countries in Africa."

International experience in renewable energy

For the past 10 years, Laurent Lecesve has been sharing this international experience with MS SYSPEC students . "I have been involved in MS SYSPEC since its inception, providing concrete examples of applications, sometimes created with limited resources, but which demonstrate the resources that can be mobilized. Today's example: lead batteries, which require distilled water for maintenance. Laurent Lecesve uses this observation as a starting point to present a solar distiller used in India that is entirely homemade! "I use this example to study how lead batteries work, their advantages and disadvantages, and how they are recycled," continues Laurent Lecesve.

A forward-looking vision for the future of renewable energy

But Laurent Lecesve is also an entrepreneur. He has created a spirulina farm, a microalgae with multiple benefits. He is a pioneer in the thermal recovery of methanization through spirulina cultivation. This experience allows him to discuss methanization in a European context and connected to the network in his classes, and to provide a vision for the future of renewable energies. For the twenty or so students enrolled in the SYSPEC Specialized Master's program, these courses provide concrete examples and an invitation to discover new energy solutions. Coming from several continents to attend this year-long program, this international outlook is a special link to local solutions to be developed.

Laurent Lecesve founded HYES, a cooperative and participatory company that brings together diverse and complementary skills and profiles in order to address all issues related to the smooth running of a consistent and sustainable spirulina farm. At the same time, AKAL FOOD is the company dedicated to commercial development in organic stores and on the Internet, as well as to the manufacture of culinary creations. The two structures work in symbiosis on the Bouquetot Eco-domain.
