Arts et Métiers Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station signed a memorandum of understanding on Thursday, November 30, to create a joint research, innovation, and education center for advanced materials and manufacturing in Aix-en-Provence.

The signing of the agreement with Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (a member of Texas A&M University System) marks the culmination of a year of collaboration between the two institutions to forge a partnership in the fields of engineering, research, innovation, and entrepreneurship. The project, which will come to fruition in 2018, will focus on three themes: materials and manufacturing; energy and smart grids; and transportation.

A partnership focused on research and innovation

The partnership will result, in particular, in the creation of a joint research, innovation, and education center for advanced materials and manufacturing at the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers , linked to the local ecosystem focused on energy, aeronautics, and secure digital technology.
The priority areas of development for the Aix center will focus on setting up a joint research team, creating an international dual degree in engineering, opening summer schools for American students, welcoming American start-ups, and exchanging interns between industrial partners with transatlantic interests.

The official signing of the Memorandum of Understanding for the creation of the joint research, innovation, and education center for advanced materials and manufacturing took place on Thursday, November 30, in Marseille, in the presence of Laurent Champaney, Director GeneralArts et Métiers, and Katherine Banks, Vice Chancellor and Dean of Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station.
