The AM Santé program involves more than 50 researchers and almost all of the institution's laboratories. A look back at the first AM Santé seminar, held on March 28, 2024, at the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Paris.

" Health is an attractive field for current and future students, and it fits perfectly withArts et Métiers mission. It should be a cross-disciplinary theme within the school, just like ecological transition and diversity, " explains Sébastien Laporte, director of the Georges Charpak Institute of Human Biomechanics and head of the program.
AM Santé integrates various research, promotion, and training initiatives offered at the school, which should benefit all its users, " especially the younger generations who are concerned about their impact on society."

Structure yourself to increase your impact

" This organization covers industrial research, initial and continuing education, and clinical work. The goal is to structure ourselves in order to increase our impact," explains Sébastien Laporte.
AM Santé is structured in line with the school's three areas of focus: digitization of the life cycle, sustainable and low-carbon engineering, and smart structures and materials. These areas aim to make health engineering attractive and provide innovative solutions that benefit patients and caregivers, among others.

Chairs and research activities

Funding theses and research projects? Essential for AM Santé: " One of the program's priorities is to create and manage training and research chairs, as well as to set up initial and continuing training initiatives," explains Sébastien Laporte. By drawing on a multidisciplinary ecosystem and involving several laboratories, we will be able to promote industrial and clinical partnership research initiatives, because health is a field that calls on all ofArts et Métiers expertise and skillsArts et Métiers "

Strengthening ties with local communities

It is also an opportunity to maintain links with the regions where the campuses are located in many ways: implementing new professions, new training courses, and offering new areas of cooperation between doctors and engineers. According to Sébastien Laporte, clinical relationships are " very important and maintain the link between the school and the hospital, which is essential because healthcare is no longer the sole responsibility of doctors." Participants in the program are currently drawing up an agreement between Assistance publique – Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP) and Arts et Métiers work more closely with hospital professionals and meet their needs.

Regular meetings and seminars

On March 28, 2024, AM Santé held its first seminar! This inaugural event, organized on the Paris campus, was an opportunity to bring together all of the Arts et Métiers involved in AM Santé. The day began with two presentations: integrating additive manufacturing into the heart of the hospital and a presentation of the conclusions of Arts et Métiers Think Tank Arts et Métiers "Engineers in the service of health." The afternoon was devoted to presentations on the activities of sixArts et Métiers stakeholders in the health sectorArts et Métiers a friendly and necessary opportunity for discussion to bring the program members together!
If you want to join the adventure, the program is waiting for you! " Health is a broad field that is fully in line with the valuesArts et Métiers ,Arts et Métiers demonstrated by the IBHGC's participation in the Global Industrie trade show on March 25 and 28 to present the challenges of sport and biomechanics. It is essential to communicate widely about AM Santé and its missions and to make ourselves known," recalls Sébastien Laporte.
