The Lycée René Cassin hosted the "Engineer, technician, why not you?" initiative, part of the Cordées de la Réussite Arts et Métiers program led by Isabelle Duband, a teacher at the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Cluny and project manager for "equal opportunities and gender diversity."
For two years, Arts et Métiers the René Cassin high school in Mâcon have been partners in the OPTIM "Cordée de la réussite" (Success Network) program led by Isabelle Duband.
As part of this initiative, an event promoting science and technology was organized on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at the high school for forty volunteer students in their sophomore and junior years.
In a roundtable format, high school students interacted with professionals and second-year students in the Arts et Métiers PGE program.
Four companies were represented: Thermodyn (Baker Hughes), Itron, Massilly, and Mesto.
After sharing their experiences and motivations, the speakers (11 professionals and 3 engineering students) answered questions from the young people.
It is important to inform young people about technical and engineering studies. These are courses that too few girls allow themselves to take, even if they have the potential. Yet industry offers exciting jobs and rewarding careers for both women and men. Financing studies should not be a barrier. Students who receive a state scholarship, such as the Crous scholarship, are exempt from tuition fees at public engineering schools such as Arts et Métiers, points out Isabelle DUBAND.
Let's break the mold and dare to dream bigger. A future full of exciting opportunities awaits you in technical careers, says one of the speakers.
