The study of plastics and their composites is at the heart of the research conducted by the RNC Polymers and Composites. The work focuses on several complementary areas: characterization of mechanical properties, durability (material fatigue, oxidation, etc.) and reliability; analysis of microstructures using microscopic observations.
Numerical simulation is also one of the RNC's areas of expertise, along with the study of processes and eco-processes. These different topics involve five laboratories (I2M, LAMPA, LEM3, LML, and PIMM), combining the skills of 35 researchers and teacher-researchers.
