The Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers will be opening its doors on October 7 and 8, 2024.
Six workshops will enable middle school students to discover the activities of a prestigious engineering school.

The workshops are organized for entire classes.

Middle school students will be divided into three small groups and will be able to attend three workshops over the course of half a day. One accompanying adult (teacher or parent) should be present per group during each workshop.

A snack and a small souvenir will be offered to our young visitors at the end of the tour.

Depending on availability and schedule (green boxes), 3 workshops per class

Workshop 1 | My smartphone, a friend I know well? Are you sure? Come and join us to think about the impact your phone has on you and on the planet (socio-environmental impacts, resources, manufacturing). Together, we will analyze the life cycle of your phone to better understand it.

Workshop 2 | Have you ever wondered how the 3D objects that populate certain video games are created? How are these objects and their virtual environments designed... using a tablet and a laser arm? You can also repair or manufacture them for everyday use.

Workshop 3 | The process of making a metal part will no longer hold any secrets for you. We invite you to discover the campus foundry workshop. Do you know how a metal medal is made? We will show you the entire process: from digital design, through model creation and mold making, to casting and finishing the part.

Workshop 4 | Come and discover how a treadmill speed reducer works using a 3D model. We will welcome you to our prototyping workshop, which has 3D printers for designing and manufacturing mechanical systems that meet specific specifications. You will learn all there is to know about every stage of the manufacturing process.

Workshop 5 | The magic of materials. Come and test your strength and understand why some objects break more easily than others.

Workshop 6 | Come and test our new giant screen wall with us to discover how a collaborative, virtual reality environment works with your classmates!
