The Science Festival returns this year to the Arts et Métiers campus on Thursday, October 10, 2024, for a day full of scientific and technological discoveries!

Come discover our laboratories, meet our researchers, and participate in exciting interactive workshops. This day is open to everyone, young and old, curious or passionate about science. Places are limited, so don't hesitate to register via the Weezevent link below to guarantee your participation.

Workshop and booth schedule:


3D metal printingLaboratory: PIMM – Processes and Engineering in Materials Mechanics
Location: PIMM laser laboratory (workshop)
Number of participants: 10 people max
Duration: 10 to 15 minutes
Times: 9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. / 1 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. (machine in operation from 9:45 a.m.)

Come and discover the possibilities offered by metal 3D printing, an innovative technology used in industry to produce complex and durable parts.


Mechanical characterization of polymer and composite materials
Laboratory: PIMM – Processes and Engineering in Materials Mechanics
Location: Mechanical Testing Laboratory, Hall 4, ground floor
Number of participants: 5 people max
Duration: 15 minutes
Times: 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Speakers: Anissa Eddhahak-Ouni and Alain Guinault

Take part in live demonstrations on tensile testing machines to explore the mechanical properties of polymer and composite materials.


Ultrasound in biomechanics
Laboratory: IBHGC – Georges Charpak Institute of Human Biomechanics
Location: At the entrance to the IBHGC

Duration: 15 minutes
Times: 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Discover how ultrasound is used to analyze and understand how the human body works, with an ultrasound demonstration.


Arts et Métiers Incubator
Incubator: Arts et Métiers
Location: Incubator booth
Hours: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. (continuous)

Come and discover the role of an incubator and the support offered to startups to develop innovative projects. Meet the entrepreneurs and explore their creations. The startups invited will be present for 1 to 2 hours during the day.


Motion analysis using simple videos
Laboratory: IBHGC – Georges Charpak Institute of Human Biomechanics
Location: Motion Analysis Room – Georges Charpak Institute of Human Biomechanics
Number of participants: Ideally 10, possibility of extending to 15
Duration: 20 minutes per session
Schedule: 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Discover motion analysis using simple videos, applied to various contexts, from hospital corridors to ski slopes.


Exploration of physical phenomena – piezoelectricity, SHM, and robotics
Laboratory: PIMM – Processes and Engineering in Materials Mechanics
Location: Hall 3
Number of participants: 10 to 12 people max
Duration: 20 minutes
Schedule: All day

Take part in interactive workshops on topics such as piezoelectricity, thermal imaging, and robotics with demonstrations of Lego robots.


Mechanical testing and structural health monitoring (SHM)
Laboratory: PIMM – Processes and Engineering in Materials Mechanics
Location: Hall 3
Number of participants: 10 to 12 people max
Duration: 20 minutes
Times: Morning and afternoon

Discover SHM technologies used to monitor the condition of materials and structures in real time through mechanical testing.

Motion capture and Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Delve into motion capture technologies, their use in biomechanics, and applied artificial intelligence.
