Biography of Valentina Mejia Gallon

Valentina Mejia Gallon is a third-year student in the Grande Ecole ProgramArts et Métiers. She began her studies at the National University of Colombia, her country of origin.

She is very interested in innovation and interdisciplinary collaborations, but also in data analysis and its transformative potential in various fields, including materials science, manufacturing processes, and biomedical engineering.

As a laboratory technician at the Biomechanics and Rehabilitation Engineering Department (GI-BIR) at the National University of Colombia, she worked with Master's students while being responsible for laboratory equipment such as 3D printers, 3D reconstruction software for medical imaging, bioreactors, etc.

She has also been a tutor for a course on CAD-CAM technology, or computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing. In this role, she has created videos and tutorials for students using the AutoDesk #Fusion360 and Inventor platforms.

She also developed a graphical interface in Python programming language for analyzing wave data in commercial metro lines.

Valentina Mejia Gallon, valedictorian of the 2023-2024 classArts et Métiers, already has four publications to her credit in the fields of thermodynamics, machine learning, and biomedical engineering, particularly in its biomechanical and neurophysiological aspects.

Biography of Javier Alejandro Parra Patino,

Javier Alejandro Parra Patino is a third-year student in theArts et Métiers Grande Ecole Program. He wants to specialize in fluid mechanics, thermal systems, and energy.

From September 2023 to January 2024, he worked on designing a prosthetic foot that enabled him to:

  • lead a case study project for the creation of a prosthesis for children using polymers,
  • supervise the selection of materials and CAD design of the foot,
  • Perform finite element simulations to ensure the efficiency and safety of the design.

He also worked on the design of several prototypes: a clock for a cathedral tower, a cam for a wine bottle machine, and even an exoskeleton.

He began studying mechanical engineering at the Universidad Nacional Experimental del Táchira in Venezuela, where he is originally from. His excellent academic record earned him the "Orden cordón Domingo Savio" academic excellence scholarship.

Valentina Mejia Gallon and Javier Alejandro Parra Patino have both been awarded the Eiffel Scholarship by Campus France, which aims to enable French educational institutions to attract the best international students to Master's and Doctorate degree programs.
