During the French Ambassador's visit to the South West Nuclear Hub at the University of Bristol, Arts et Métiers the University of Bristol signed a framework agreement aimed at creating a strategic and structuring partnership between the two institutions, particularly within the South West Nuclear Hub and in activities related to the nuclear field.

Arts et Métiers the University of Bristol have been collaborating for over 10 years, with student exchanges in training and research projects. Each year,Arts et Métiers studentsArts et Métiers the MSc program at Bristol, and Arts et Métiers students from Bristol on a one-year academic exchange. It is the only university in the United Kingdom that sends students on the ERASMUS program to take courses in French!

Today, the goal is to go further, with the establishment of a structured partnership to create synergies in training and research in partnership with companies. It is within this framework that Laurent Baraillier and Regis Kubler fromthe Mechanics Surfaces and Materials Processing (MSMP) laboratory accompanied Xavier Kestelyn, Deputy Director General for Training, and Audrey Stewart, Director of International & European Development, to the University of Bristol on May 24, 2018.

The morning was devoted to a scientific workshop between researchers to identify joint research topics to be developed, followed by the signing ceremony for the partnership agreement. This agreement was signed by Professor Xavier Kestelyn, Arts et Métiers Bristol VP Prof. Hugh Brady, in the presence of the French Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Jean-Pierre Jouyet.

Concrete actions are underway with the arrival this summer of Arts et Métiers students Arts et Métiers research projects at the South West Nuclear Hub, the arrival of Bristol students on exchange at Arts et Métiers September 2018, and the participation of colleagues from Bristol in the scientific conference scheduled for November in Aix-en-Provence with Texas A&M.
