Building on the expertise of its consortium members, gathering experienced industrial and academic partners (Arts et Métiers Institute of Technology, Politecnico di Torino, AddUp), CAPT’N’SEE will initiate a dynamic shift in the way to work, leading to more creative, flexible, and smart AM. The main targeted sector lies in the luxury industry – where highvalue-added productions require enhanced creativity and high precision.

This project is led by Dr Frédéric Segonds, Associate Professor in the LCPI laboratory (Paris Campus).

THE PROJECT

Addive Manufacturing (AM) technologies are now widely spread in our industries. One of the critical issues for companies, however, lies in hiring expert staff with a comprehensive knowledge of AM processes. CAPT’N’SEE is a training program dedicated to professionals willing to enhance their expertise in the use of these technologies. Two core steps of the AM value chain that have been so far neglected will more particularly be addressed: the AM early design stages and, in the shopfloor, the Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) stage which allow real-me control of processed parts.

Building on the expertise of its consortium members, gathering experienced industrial and academic partners, the project will initiate a dynamic shift in the way to work, leading to more creative, flexible, and smart AM. Therefore, one of the targeted sector will be the luxury industry, which is in strong growth and where high value-added productions require enhanced creativity and high precision.

This activity has received funding from the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). This body of the European Union receives support from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme.

OUR NETWORK

As Europe seeks to retain its pivotal position in industrial competitiveness, there is an urgent need to establish efficient programmes for professionals who wish to maximize their knowledge of additive manufacturing.

CAPT’N’SEE will tackle this challenge and offer access to a unique training programme. A novel approach will address two core steps of the AM value chair that have been neglected so far: the AM early design stages and, in the shopfloor, the Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) stage which allow real-me control of processed parts.

The CAPT’N’SEE network associates 2 renowned academic partners: Arts & Metiers Institute of Technology (France), Politecnico di Torino (Italy) and one skillful industrial, AddUp (France):

• Politecnico di Torino (www.polito.it) was founded in 1906 and has its roots in the Technical School for Engineers created in 1859.  It is internationally ranked among the most important universities in Europe for engineering and architecture studies, with 36,000 students (out of which 18% are international students coming from  over 100 different countries). Politecnico is a center of excellence for education and research in engineering, architecture, design and planning and it works in close cooperation with the socio-economic system. • AddUp is a joint-venture born in 2016 from two major French industrial groups: Michelin and Fives. With this strong industrial heritage, AddUp develops additive metallic manufacturing solutions for industrials and supports them throughout their projects with a services offer for a profitable experience. The passion for progress and innovation leads AddUp to engage with industrial partnerships as well as with academic and institutional partners, in Europe and all over the world.
