Master’s programme 1 year (Graduate)

In their final year, students can follow an M2 level master's programme programme in four fields: "Mechanical Engineering"; "Energy"; "Industrial Engineering"; and "Biomedical Engineering".

This second-year master's has a dual advantage: it enables students both to master the fundamentals of the scientific approach and to develop skills in a specific theme. The programme includes 180 hours of theoretical training, individual work and a research internship in a laboratory.

BioMedical Engineering (M2)

The master's degree in BioMedical Engineering stands at the crossroads of two innovation-rich fields: engineering sciences and biomedicine. This programme is a partnership between the University of Paris Descartes and ParisTech – on which Arts et Métiers depends – with additional expertise: life sciences and biomedicine from the Paris university and engineering and technology from ParisTech.

Transdisciplinarity and the international dimension are the two pillars of the BioMedical Engineering master's programme, which caters for students from diverse backgrounds: not only biology, chemistry and health sciences, but also engineering sciences, computer science, mathematics and physics. The main goal is to provide skills in the main biomedical engineering fields, which are increasing in significance in terms of both research and industrial development.

Five specialities are currently on offer to candidates:

Energy (M2)

Energy, the environment and sustainable development: these three complementary themes are at the heart of the research and teaching activities of the Department of Energy. The expertise of its teams lies in the areas of fluid mechanics, electrical systems, mass transfer and heat transfer.

Researchers are especially interested in characterising physical phenomena, particularly by designing dedicated instrumentation devices. Their work also focuses on improving the behavioural analytical model, heat transfer and mass transfer, fluid mechanics and electromagnetism.

Conversion systems for turbomachines and electrical machines, as well as architecture and control systems, also fall within their areas of expertise.

As a generator of knowledge, the Energy Department also aims to pass this knowledge on by offering:

Industrial Engineering (M2)

Innovation is the main characteristic of the Industrial Engineering, which specialises in complex industrial products. Its teams combine the necessary expertise for a comprehensive process, from product design to product industrialisation. Their work is dedicated to optimising the development process throughout product life cycles and to developing innovative products.

The first field covers a wide range of subjects: integrated design and collaboration approaches; innovation methods; the definition of new production processes for industrial applications; the product/process/organisation combination applied to product development; and special engineering tools dedicated to several fields, such as geometric modelling and digital models.

For the development of innovative products, work is undertaken in three directions: designs and emerging trends; intelligent mechatronic products and systems; and specific architecture for products with very high dynamic performance.

The Department of Industrial Engineering offers eight Master's programme specialities:

Integrated conception and innovation, with two possible courses at the Arts et Métiers Paris Campus:

Mechanical Engineering (M2)

Creating tomorrow's technologies in the fields of mobility, energy and health: this is the aim of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Its teaching and research activities are related in particular to materials and innovation in manufacturing and mechanical engineering processes.

Three other specialities are also accessible through partnerships:

  • Acoustic engineering
  • Modelling and simulation in structural mechanics and coupled systems
  • Fusion sciences
