Dimensional metrology is at the heart of Thierry Coorevits' work. He is an Arts et Métiers engineer Arts et Métiers lecturer in metrology at the Lille campus. As an expert in the field, he will be a member of the jury for the "Metrology 4.0" challenge organized by Zeiss.
Collaborations between the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Lille and Zeiss are numerous in the field of metrology. One example is the “Metrology of the Future” Techdays, organized throughout France with Zeiss. Thierry Coorevits, chair of a scientific advisory board at the National Metrology Laboratory, presents his vision of the future of metrology and ultra-high precision in three-dimensional metrology. He draws on his experience to teach metrology to Arts et Métiers engineering students Arts et Métiers students national Master of Science (formerly Master of Science )in"Materials and Surface Engineering" through courses on product geometric specifications, three-dimensional metrology, and surface condition metrology.
It was in this context that he agreed to be a member of the jury for the Zeiss Challenge Metrology 4.0.
Being a member of the Zeiss Challenge jury highlights the strong ties that the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Lille has forged with Zeiss.
The aim of the challenge? To propose innovative solutions to reinvent metrology for industry! Open to all students, in teams of two to four people, the project must rethink metrology in relation to one of four proposed themes: augmented reality, big data, measurement technology, and workshop measurement. "The alliance between metrology and digital technology is a hot topic, and I am curious to discover the participants' perspectives and ideas on this subject," says Thierry Coorevits.
As an added bonus for engineering students at the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Lille, they will have the opportunity to participate in the challenge as part of their second-year coursework on product, process, and material optimization, allowing them to integrate the challenge into their education. "I expect Arts et Métiers engineering students Arts et Métiers wish to participate to show professionalism and commitment to this challenge. All ideas are welcome!" To register for the challenge, please do so before April 14.
