Objectives

The objective of this thesis is to propose a model describing the mechanical behavior of the Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy and to apply it to the simulation of the machining process.

Progress report

  • Propose a model describing the mechanical behavior of the Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy.
  • Develop an optimization procedure to determine the coefficients of the constitutive model.
  • Develop models for orthogonal cutting and turning of Ti-6Al-4V alloy, incorporating the proposed constitutive model.
  • Predict forces, temperatures, chip geometry, and the integrity of the machined surface.
  • Participation in conferences: MUGV in Bordeaux, HPC in Budapest, CMMO in Sheffield.
